Kibale Forest National Park

Kibale Forest National Park is located in Western Uganda in Kabarole district and it was established in 1993, the park is known for being “The primate capital of the World” having various Chimpanzees with a population of over 1500 individuals including habituated ones which are about 120 making it the park with the highest primate population. Among the primates include the black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, L’Hoest’s monkey, olive baboons, Mantled guereza, Potto, Vervet monkey, White-eyelid mangabey, Galago among others. The park is also home to about 120 mammal species including African golden cats, bush pigs, warthogs, blue and red duiker, rare sitatunga, forest hogs, African elephant, forest cape buffaloes, among others and also more than 300 species of birds including olive long tailed cuckoo, western tinker bird, grey parrot, blue breasted king fisher, blue headed sunbird, red faced woodland, yellow spotted nicator, little greenbul among other bird species.

Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park

The best destination for mountain Gorilla experience, its located in South Western Uganda in Kanungu district. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is known for having half of the World’s remaining population of mountain gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park will enable you have an exclusive experience with the mountain gorillas in either of it’s sectors which are; Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga. The park harbors 120 mammal species such as black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, Red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, bush pigs, forest elephants, buffaloes, duikers and also bird species like the African green broadbill, Grauer’s swamp warbler, Turner’s Eremomela, Chapin’s flycatcher, handsome francolin, Rwenzori turaco, purple sunbird, Red throated bee eater, black bee eater, and Shelley’s crimson-wing   and also butterfly species such as the African giant swallowtail and Cream-banded swallowtail.

 

Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe International Airport or your Hotel – Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park 

Day 1 of the 5 Days Gorilla Chimpanzee Trekking Safari will start with a pick up from Entebbe International Airport or your Hotel by our experienced driver guide from Paradise Adventure Vacations who will brief you about the 5 Days Gorilla Chimpanzee Trekking Safari and then you will set off to Kibale Forest National Park located in the Western region of Uganda, the park is approximately 6 hours from Kampala including a lunch stopover in Fort Portal, the Tourism City. During your journey, you will be amazed by the beautiful landscape in Uganda’s Countryside. As you drive into the park, you will be welcomed by the beautiful sounds of the colourful birds in Kibale Forest. Check into your lodge for relaxation, dinner as well as an overnight.

Day 2: Kibale Forest National Park – Chimpanzee Tracking – Bigodi Wetland and Community Visit

Wake up early in the morning and start your Day 2 of the 5 Days Gorilla Chimpanzee Tracking Safari with a heavy delicious breakfast and prepare for the famous Chimpanzee Trekking experience. Wear appropriate clothing for the activity like a long sleeved shirt, a pair of karky or jean trousers, water proof boots, a round cap and a heavy sweater to protect you from the tree branches and also in case of bad weather.  Carry in your back packs some snacks and drinking water to help in keeping you hydrated during the trek since it may take about 1 to 5 hours to find these Chimpanzees depending on their location. Proceed to Kanyachu visitor center where you will be briefed about the Do’s and the Don’t’s of the park, you will be assigned a chimpanzee group to look out for and also a park ranger to help you during the trek. During the trek, you will encounter various primates like the black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, Olive baboons, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Red colobuses, Mantled guereza and also various bird species like flycatchers, hornbills, black billed turaco, kingfisher, cuckoos, purple breasted sunbird, crowned eagle, black capped waxbill, and black collard apalis among others. On finding the chimpanzees, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them to learn about their behaviors, social life, how they communicate among others. You will then return back to your accommodation for lunch and relaxation.

Later in the afternoon, you will proceed to the park’s Bigodi wetland for a swamp walk and during this walk you will spot some butterfly species and birds like the Black-crowned Waxbill, White-spotted Fluff tail, White-breasted Negrofinch, Yellow-spotted Barbet, Black Bishop, Hairy-breasted Barbet, Yellow-billed Barbet, Brown-crowned Tchagra, Black & white Shrike-flycatcher, Western Nicator, Superb Sunbird, among others. You will then proceed for a community walk where you will taste the Gins brewed from bananas, craft making, coffee processing, and then you will return back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Day 3 of the 5 Days Gorilla Chimpanzee Tracking Safari will start with a heavy Breakfast. Thereafter, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is home to the endangered mountain gorillas and one of the oldest rainforests in Uganda. The park is known for having almost half of the World’s population of Mountain Gorillas hence giving you a thrilling experience. The park has a population of about 459 Mountain Gorillas with 21 Habituated families living in different sectors of the park like Nkuringo, Ruhija, Rushaga and Buhoma, you will then check into your accommodation for dinner and over stay.

Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park – Gorilla Trekking – Batwa Community Encounter

You will rise up early to have a hot breakfast and start day 4 of the 5 Days Gorilla Chimpanzee Trekking Safari and then you will meet your driver guide for a transfer to the park’s information center for briefing regarding the dos and don’ts to follow during gorilla trekking. Thereafter, start your guided forest trek in search for the mountain gorillas which takes about 3 to 6 hours depending on the movements and location of the Gorilla family you have been assigned.

Gorilla Trekking

During your walk, you may encounter other wildlife species besides Gorillas such as black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, bush pigs, forest elephants, bird species like African green pigeon, African harrier hawk, Cinnamon-chested bee-eater, crowned hornbill, Giant kingfisher etc. Butterflies like cream-banded swallowtail, African giant swallowtail, spalgis lemolea among others. Once you meet the Gorillas, you will have a maximum of 1 hour of watching them especially the playful juveniles and other family members as they are carrying out their daily activities, keep  your camera well charged and on standby such that you do not miss any moment uncaptured during your gorilla trekking experience. Later you will return to the park information center to pick your tracking certificate and then you will return to your lodge for lunch.

Batwa Community Encounter

In the afternoon you will visit the Batwa community where you will see the pygmies proudly known as “the forest keepers” who used to leave in Mgahinga and Bwindi Impenetrable forest before the it was gazetted as a national park and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Here you will learn about their ancient ways of life and the struggles to adapt to modern life outside the forest, how they feed among others. Later you will return back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Enroute to your destination, you will have a lunch stopover in Igongo Cultural Center or Ajip Motel and also another stopover at the equator line at Kayabwe for coffee. Paradise Adventure Vacations Ltd offering all-wheel drive safari vehicles suitable for off-road driving, which enable travelers to discover the magical areas of East Africa in a pleasant and reliable manner.

Our fleet consists of 4×4 Toyota Land cruisers with a hinged roof and skylights above the front seats. The hinged roof offers two main advantages: it provides shade without restricting the view, so that you can enjoy your safari even in the very sunny hours of the day. It also allows a 360-degree all-round view.
