Safari destinations
Arusha National Park

Commonly known as “the Diamond amidst the shadows of the Giants” is located in the North Eastern region of Tanzania and was established in 1960. The park covers an area of 137sqkm stretching around Mount Meru the 5th highest mountain in Africa. The park is known for having the World’s highest population of giraffes, it also has various other mammal species including colobus monkeys, Cape buffalo, hippos, elephants, zebra, occasional lions and leopards can also be sighted on a game drive. Arusha National Park has a wide variety of landscapes ranging from the Meru crater, Ngurdoto Crater, Momela lakes, vast savannah and rainforest through to acacia woodlands and up to the alpine vegetation on the higher reaches of Mount Meru.

Serengeti National Park

Located in the Northern region of Tanzania and it was established in 1952. The park covers an area of 14763sqkm making it home to over 70 mammal species like  dik-dik, Oryx, greater Kudu, Hyenas, Hippos, bushbuck, Jackals, giraffes, Janet cats, Baboons, Giraffes, elands, spring hare, porcupine, warthog, Hyraxes, vervet monkeys, Colobus monkeys, patas monkeys, and mongooses and also Africa’s Big 5 mammals which are lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants and Rhinos. Serengeti National park also boosts of over 500 bird species including Grey-Breasted spur fowl, Fischer’s lovebird, Rufous-tailed weaver, Usambiro barbet, Grey-crested helmet-shrike, Kori Bustard, Red-capped robin-chat, Secretary bird, Verreaux’s eagle, Yellow-throated sand grouse among others. Serengeti National Park is well known for its annual Wildebeest Migration of over 1,500,000 and 250,000 Zebras which occur between the months of July and August.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Located in the Northern part of Tanzania on the Eastern Great Rift Valley Arm which is managed by Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority. The Conservation area was officially established in 1959 and was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and it is part of the Serengeti Ecosystem. Ngorongoro’s main attraction is the Ngorongoro Crater which is the World’s largest intact and unfilled Volcanic Caldera with over 25,000 mammals including wildebeests, hippos, warthogs, hyenas, zebras, elands, gazelles, and the Big 5 mammal species which are lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos as well as buffaloes and over 100 bird species co-existing with the Semi-nomadic Maasai people.

Lake Manyara National Park

Located in Arusha and it is part of the Northern Circuits of National parks in Tanzania. The park established in 1960 and it covers an area of 330sqkm. Lake Manyara National Park famously known for its tree climbing lions and it is home to various mammal species like the famous tree climbing lions, klipspringer, elephants, warthogs, impalas, Buffaloes, hippos, gazelles, lions, leopards among others. The park is also home to over 400 bird species including native and migrating bird species like the pink flamingos that give color to Lake Manyara, ostriches, storks, hornbills, crowned eagles, pelicans, herons, grey crowned cranes, crested guinea fowl, secretary birds and the silvery cheeked hornbills among others.

 

Day 1: Arrival and Pick up – Transfer to your Hotel in Arusha

Day 2: Transfer to Arusha National Park – Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Canoe Ride

Day 2 of the 10 Days Best African Tanzania Safari Holiday will begin with an early morning breakfast and thereafter you will transfer to Arusha National Park which is 35km away from Arusha Town. Upon arrival, you will continue with your morning game drive since it is the best time to see and observe a variety of animals as they become scarce by the afternoon. You will then proceed to your lodge for check in and have a hearty lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will explore Arusha National Park on a canoe ride on Lake Momela which will give you sights of buffaloes, bush bucks, giraffes, hippos and many bird species like the giant kingfishers, cattle egrets, storks among others. You will then return to your lodge for relaxation and later have dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National Park – Evening Game Drive

After your lovely morning breakfast on day 3 of your 10 Days Best African Tanzania Safari Holiday, you will embark on about 5 hours drive to Serengeti National reserve. You continue towards the fertile Ngorongoro highlands where wheat and corn are grown by the Iraqw people. Along the way, you will also pass through the mist-shrouded rain forests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you might be lucky enough to see baboons or even leopards and elephants in the dense undergrowth. Upon arrival, you will check into your accommodation for a finger-licking lunch and have relaxation. Later in the late afternoon, you will descend into the central Seronera area which has a great concentration for wildlife and enjoy your game drive as you search for mammal species.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park – Full day Game drive

Day 5: Serengeti National Park – Full Day Game drive

Day 5 of your safari will have an early morning delicious breakfast and thereafter return back to the Seronera area for another full day exploring this world’s most famous and wildlife sanctuary. You will view the nocturnal predators as they return from hunting and the animals waking up in early morning light. Depending on the time of the year, you can expect to see the migration of millions of Wildebeests and zebras, other mammal species you will see include giraffes, antelopes, monkeys, baboons, hippos, antelopes, the Big five including the lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, leopards and many bird species. You will have your picnic lunch as you enjoy the beauty of the park, later in the evening you will return to your accommodation for your dinner as well as an overnight.

Day 6: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater via Olduvai Gorge with Afternoon Game drive

You will start your day 6 with a lovely morning breakfast with your picnic lunch boxes via the Olduvai Gorge where it is believed the cradle of mankind began. While here, you will encounter and learn about the fossils, stone tools and the skeletons of many extinct animals excavated in the gorge. Thereafter transfer with an afternoon game drive to Ngorongoro Crater. Which is not only called Africa’s Eden but also the ‘8th Natural Wonder of the World, a visit to the crater is a main draw card for tourists coming to Tanzania and a definite world-class attraction.

Ngorongoro Crater surrounded by a ring of extinct volcanoes and the floor  dotted with watering holes, which shelters 25,000 animals. You will enjoy your picnic lunch as you view the wildlife. Within the crater rim, large herds of zebra and wildebeest graze nearby while sleeping lions laze in the sun. At dawn, the endangered black rhinos then return to the thick cover of the crater forests after grazing on dew-laden grass in the morning mist.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Game Drive – Drive to Eyasi – Hadzabe Community Encounter

Wake up early morning on your day 7 of the Safari and have breakfast. You will thereafter descend into the Crater floor which is about 260 sqkm with a depth of over 2000 feet. This 5 hours game drive on the crater floor will show you a lot of wildlife action. Which has not to be missed therefore keep your Cameras ready. The African elephant, Black rhino, buffalos, Hippos, Cheetahs, Hyenas, and Lions  found in plenty.

You will later begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater and then transfer to Eyasi where you will have a hearty lunch. Lake Eyasi is a famous soda lake near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and it offers a very different experience from national park Safaris in the Northern circuit. Its location is famous for being home to the Hadzabe, the last hunter-gatherers of East Africa whose practices have remained the same for over 10,000 years. You will visit the Hadzabe Community to get a feel and experience of their daily life.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater Rim Walk – Transfer to Lake Manyara

Day 8 of the10 Days Best African Tanzania Safari Holiday will start with a relaxed breakfast and you will thereafter go on a guided walk with an armed ranger guide along the top of the Crater wall. This part of the Crater is very beautiful and densely forested with Tropical trees, plants and creepers. This walk will take you along the picturesque rim offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape and various wildlife species. Later you will have a mouth-watering lunch and transfer to Lake Manyara National Park where you will have your dinner as well as an overnight.

Day 9: Lake Manyara National Park – Full day Exploration

After your lovely breakfast, you will go for a full day exploration of Lake Manyara National Park. Manyara, a relatively small but diverse park 120km west of Arusha, is so named for the shallow salt lake that occupies a good 70% of the park’s lands. Flooding and drying seasonally, this soda lake is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. On our exploration of the park, we shall see monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants and with some luck, we shall also see lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its diverse landscapes, not only open grassy plains but also primate-filled woodlands and baobab dotted cliffs. After our full day in the park, we will drive to our lodgings where we will have relaxation and also enjoy a sumptuous meal with our comfortable quarters awaiting us.

Day 10: Morning Game Drive – Transfer back to Arusha
