Buhoma Lodge a luxury accommodation facility situated in Southwestern Uganda. The lodge  renowned for its stunning location, nestled amidst the lush tropical rainforest of Bwindi. Making it an ideal base for tourists visiting the park for gorilla trekking adventures. Buhoma Lodge offers a luxurious and immersive experience. For travelers seeking to explore the remarkable biodiversity and natural beauty of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. While contributing to conservation efforts and supporting local communities.

Committed to sustainable tourism practices and environmental conservation. We often engage in eco-friendly initiatives such as using renewable energy sources. Supporting local communities, and implementing responsible waste management strategies. Supplies are obtained from as nearby as possible from local sources. And staff are also generally recruited locally and trained on site. Our water supply is gravity fed and solar power is used for lighting and power points. Which are hence limited to the central area for recharging electronic equipment. A curio shop is on site with a range of locally made crafts.

An intimate and charming property that commands spectacular and uninterrupted views of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Home to the rare and elusive Mountain Gorilla. One of only two lodges situated within the National Park, within a short walking distance from the meeting point for gorilla tracking and other activities in the Buhoma area. An elevated central area, complete with lounge, bar and dining area, offers a cozy, comfortable environment to discuss the day’s activities around the fireplaces which add atmosphere and warmth in the cool evenings.

Accommodation

Buhoma Lodge usually has around 10 to 12 rooms. The lodge offers a range of accommodation options, including spacious and well-appointed cottages and suites. Each room typically features comfortable beds, en-suite bathrooms, and private verandas that offer breathtaking views of the forest.

Dinning

Buhoma Lodge usually features an on-site restaurant where guests can enjoy a variety of meals. The restaurant may offer both indoor and outdoor dining options, allowing guests to dine amidst the lush surroundings of the forest.

The lodge typically serves a mix of international and local cuisines, providing guests with a diverse culinary experience. Meals for instance freshly prepared dishes using locally sourced ingredients, showcasing the flavors of Uganda.

Activities & Attractions
Buhoma Community Village Walk

This walk provides guests with an opportunity to support the local community whilst enjoying visiting various interesting places as you follow a walking trail through the village. Highlights include the traditional healer, banana brewery and Mukono Primary school where you may interact with the children.

Bird Watching

Done around the lodge and walks in the forest with local qualified guides. This forest area has recorded over 350 bird species. Of particular interest are the 23 species endemic to the Albertine Rift and at least 14 recorded nowhere else in Uganda

Bwindi Community Hospital

Established during 2003 and has grown from small beginnings to become an essential service provider for the immediate communities and much of the surrounding areas too, caring for more than 100 000 individuals. Visit it to learn how it is helping to improve the quality of many lives.

Ride 4 a Women

Ride 4 a Woman  set up in 2009 to support local women struggling at home with issues associated with HIV, domestic violence and poverty.  Meanwhile, visitors  invited to view the women working at the local centre – sewing, weaving and learning new skills for making a living and helping towards an education for their children.

Batwa Empowerment Village

A cultural experience offering a glimpse into the former livelihood of the Batwa people. Learn how the Batwa survived in the forest as hunter/gatherers, how they collected honey – a favorite delicacy, the plants and herbs they used and how they danced, sang and socialized. Discuss traditional Batwa burial rites, listen to ancient stories and legends from a people at one with their environment and test your skill with a Batwa bow and arrow as they demonstrate how they hunted, make fire and carved cups and plates from forest materials.

Bwindi Forest Walk

Undertaken with a Uganda Wildlife Authority guide to allow you to hike along the trails and enjoy the forest flora, fauna and wildlife such as monkeys at close proximity. A popular choice is the 3-4 hour hike to the waterfall.

Butterfly Watching

Possible in the forest with Bwindi being home to over 200 species, some of which are endemic to the Albertine Rift Valley

 

Facilities

Our spa treatment room available to all overnight lodge guests entitled to a complimentary massage by our trained in-house masseuse. We also offer a complimentary laundry and hiking-boot cleaning service, all invaluable after a day of gorilla trekking!

We offer arrangements for special occasions; including birthday and other celebrations, private dining, cultural dancing and interaction. As well as room service required communicated through our in-house private telephone service available in each chalet.
