Buhoma Lodge Bwindi – Impenetrable Forest
Buhoma Lodge, an intimate and charming property that commands spectacular and uninterrupted views of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. One of only two lodges situated within the National Park. Bwindi is home to the rare and elusive Mountain Gorillas. Within a short walking distance from the meeting point for gorilla tracking and other activities in the Buhoma area. An elevated central area, Buhoma Lodge, complete with lounge, bar and dining area offers a Cosy and comfortable environment. In order to discuss the day’s activities around the fireplaces which adds atmosphere and warmth in the cool evenings. Buhoma Lodge perfectly placed for visitors to go gorilla trekking and enjoy lots of other activities. And the property offers very comfortable accommodation and communal spaces too.
Buhoma Lodge can’t be beaten in Location, the rooms are spacious. With great views and the staff always go above and beyond. The Lodge includes a family chalet, but there is an age restriction on tracking gorillas, trackers must be at least 15 years old, however, forest walks, birding and more besides are available to all.
Rooms
The lodge has 10 comfortable chalets built from locally sourced materials. Without compromising levels of comfort. Each chalet is eco-friendly with solar lightings and rain showers. Some chalets also offer a bath-tub for relaxation and enjoyment after the day’s activities. Each Chalet has an outdoor Veranda with Comfortable Chairs.
Activities at Buhoma Lodge
Buhoma Lodge offers a wide range of activities and they include;
Gorilla trekking, This is the main reason as to why Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a must visit destination. The Trek starts off early in the morning with a briefing and a ranger guide to take you through the forest, this is to allow ample time to locate the gorillas, a minimum of 2 hours is usually required increasing to as much as 8 hours if the gorillas have decided to base themselves high up in Bwindi’s mountains. Trekkers are allotted an hour for observing the gorillas as they feed, rest and play.
Community visits, A Cultural walk is also on offer, during which you can learn all about the traditions of the local Batwa people. This is complemented by village walks with highlights. Such as meeting the healer and checking out the banana brewery as well as a trip to the local hospital.

Buhoma’s 3 to 4 hour walk to a waterfall is highly recommended, on your way you will view a variety of wildlife. Bwindi has over 350 bird species and more than 200 species of butterflies.

By Road, The Lodge is about 10 hours drive from Kampala
It is 2 to 3 hours drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park
It is 6 to 7 hours drive from Lake Mburo National Park.
By Air, You can catch a scheduled flight from Entebbe or Kajansi Airfield to Kihihi Airstrip.
