Welcome to Katurum Lodge, where the whispers of nature harmonize with the beating heart of Africa. Katurum Lodge beckons intrepid travelers to embark on a journey of discovery and wonder. Here, amidst the untamed wilderness of Uganda, memories made, friendships are forged. And the essence of Africa is embraced in all its glory. Kidepo is the world’s fifth best tourism destination because of its spectacular landscape and pristine valleys. Hosting the largest herd of buffaloes in Africa. Now tourists can enjoy this beauty in the comfort of the recently refurbished Katurum Lodge.

Built in 1971 by Danish master architect Hans Munk Hansen, the Kidepo Safari Lodge. Now known as the Katurum Lodge Kidepo put up by the former president Idi Amin, as a meeting point for his international friends. It was also a hunting spot since he loved hunting as a sport. This lodge built alongside other lodges such as Pakuba Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park and Semuliki to help boost the number of lodges in the national parks.

Nestled amidst the rugged beauty of Kidepo Valley National Park in Uganda lies a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by adventurous souls seeking tranquility and wilderness at its finest. Katurum Lodge in Kidepo Valley National Park is a perfect place for a weekend/retreats and holiday getaway


Most of our lodge’s staff sourced from the communities living around the park as a way of providing alternative income to locals. The main objective is to reduce the dependence of locals on wildlife trade. If you wish to support locals from the neighboring communities, the gift shop here gives you the perfect opportunity to buy locally crafted souvenirs and mementos for your loved ones. All products are fair trade, ethically sourced, and support various Karamoja’s community-based initiatives.


Amidst the rugged terrain, Katurum Lodge stands as an oasis of comfort and relaxation.  Meanwhile, designed to blend harmoniously with its natural surroundings, the lodge offers a range of accommodation options, from cozy cottages to spacious safari tents. Birding often involves exploring different habitats to observe a diverse range of bird species. Such as  Ostriches, Karamojong apalis, secretary bird, ostrich, carmine, yellow-billed and Jackson’s hornbills.
