Now tourists can enjoy this beauty in the comfort of the recently refurbished Katurum Lodge.
Built in 1971 by Danish master architect Hans Munk Hansen, the Kidepo Safari Lodge. Now known as the Katurum Lodge Kidepo put up by the former president Idi Amin, as a meeting point for his international friends. It was also a hunting spot since he loved hunting as a sport. This lodge built alongside other lodges such as Pakuba Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls National Park and Semuliki to help boost the number of lodges in the national parks.

Community
Most of our lodge’s staff sourced from the communities living around the park as a way of providing alternative income to locals. The main objective is to reduce the dependence of locals on wildlife trade. If you wish to support locals from the neighboring communities, the gift shop here gives you the perfect opportunity to buy locally crafted souvenirs and mementos for your loved ones. All products are fair trade, ethically sourced, and support various Karamoja’s community-based initiatives.
