The Lodge can be accessed by about 4 hours’ road transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport. 2 hours’ drive from Arusha Airport or 1 hour 30 minutes’ drive from Lake Manyara Airstrip.
Chem Chem Lodge is a peaceful, laid-back and decidedly stylish lodge with exceptional services and finger-licking food. The Lodge very well suited to those travellers who want to relax and enjoy the lodge’s vicinity and take advantage of the activities on the private concession.
Guest Accommodation consists of 8 tent-style suites including 1 unit for family use. All these suites raised above ground level, well-spaced, and accessed along wooden walkways. Each standard suite boasts 100 square meters of floor space making it very spacious. At the entrance, you’ll find a hallway with a table and a couple of lamps, a luggage rack, wildlife artwork, and a full-length mirror. Onto the bedroom, you will find a double bed or twin beds, bedside tables, 2 storage trunks. Lighting, a standing fan, tea and coffee station, and a separate seating area with armchairs and a pouffe.
The rooms have en-suite facilities comprising of flush toilet, twin washbasins, a freestanding bathtub with shower attachment, and an outside shower. Every suite has a lovely private veranda set with a couple of campaign chairs, a table and a day bed. From here, you can gaze across the grassland and look out for some wildlife species.
Chem Chem’s communal lodge is a classic timber, stone, and thatch construction with some bit of a twist with a sprawling wing on either side, it resembles a flamingo. One wing holds the camp’s lounge and bar which also features comfortable sofas and armchairs around the coffee tables. You can also marvel at the scenery while tucking in to the tasty food and drinks in the dining area. Furnished with chic individual tables and beautiful cushioned chairs. This area is very pleasant for one to enjoy the camp’s buffet breakfasts, light lunches, and also three-course dinners.
Chem Chem Lodge also has a viewing deck which is well situated on its upper level, whereas its fire-pit is close to the dining area. The Lodge as well has a gym and anyone looking for a spot of pampering, can head out to Amani Spa for massage therapy. After this soothing massage, you can cool off in the lodge’s sparkling swimming pool in the shade of trees.
The area around Chem Chem Lodge is home to a good assortment of predators most especially herbivores. Guests can always spot several giraffes and zebras grazing on the plains a few meters from the property. Birds spotted here in great numbers.
Tarangire National Park is most famous for its elephant migration which happens between the months of June and October every year, however, wildlife viewing is really exceptional all year round. Elephants, Lions, leopards, and buffaloes are some of the species to expect and also birds.
The landscape around the lodge offers magnificent views. Visitors can climb the hills between the two sides of the concession and gaze out across the vastness of the land.
