Singita Sasakwa Lodge is nestled within the 141,000-hectare Grumeti Game Reserve on the unfenced slopes of the Sasakwa hill on top of an escarpment. The Lodge offers absolutely stunning views over Serengeti’s famous Western Corridor. This corridor is a key pathway for thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles during the Great Migration which happens Annually. Singita Sasakwa Lodge is a Luxury Ancient-styled manor house steeped in the grandeur of a bygone age.

Serengeti National Park is the scene of one of the World’s greatest spectacles, the Wildebeest Migration. This involves millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles migrating through the region on their endless quest in search for fresh grass and water. The year-round game drives both in and out of the Great Wildebeest Migration season consistently provide for excellent Big 5 sightings. Other lesser-seen creatures here include the bat-eared foxes.

 

Facilities and Amenities at Singita Sasakwa Lodge

Singita Sasakwa Lodge has 10 private cottages in 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom configurations each with its own verandah and garden and also a private infinity plunge pool positioned to maximize the stupendous views. Elegantly furnished as the main house, the suites feature enormous 4-poster beds cloaked in mosquito netting and separate sitting rooms with televisions. The spacious ensuite bathrooms have rain showers as well as claw-foot bathtubs well positioned near enormous windows. This allows you to enjoy a blissful soak while enjoying great views of the Serengeti. The suites are all furnished with creature comforts including fireplaces for chilly evenings, wood-panelled dressing rooms, wingback chairs and beautiful chandeliers.

Visitors can also unwind in the gym, spa, tennis and archery courts whereas the children have a special program that includes a mini ranger course. This is particularly engaging with tracking, butterfly capture-and-release, frogging, beginner’s astronomy and flower pressing. They can also engage in fun baking with skilled chefs hence widening their creativity at Arts & Crafts. Other activities here include visiting the Environmental Education Centre, learning from wildlife DVDs, and getting messy with face painting in the Bush Spa.

 

Activities at Singita Sasakwa Lodge

Game Drive

Visitors can head out on one of the daily game drives offered at the lodge and spot the abundant wildlife that Serengeti National Park has on offer. You will get up close with a variety of mammals both in the morning and in the evening, with the evening being the most rewarding since you will as well spot nocturnals. Some of the mammals to spot here include lions, elephants, buffaloes, antelope, Maasai giraffe, cheetah, bearded wildebeest, Bat Eared foxes, leopards and the rare Colobus monkeys. These can be seen in the rolling grasslands with the nocturnals being spotted in the riverine woodlands. The Lodge as well offers an opportunity to witness the Annual Wildebeest Migration where thousands of wildebeests and zebras venture for the crossing of the Mara River.

 

Nature Walk

Guided Nature Walks are a great way to experience the Bush in all of its magnificence. An Experienced guide will take you throughout the entire walk as you track the animals in the wilderness, he will as well tell you more about the landscape that surrounds you.

 

Community Visit

Visitors can also visit the nearby communities as part of Singita’s deep commitment to community development. The Grumeti Fund Community Outreach Program that works with residents of 21 villages bordering Singita addresses issues such as Education, Enterprise development, water management and natural resource management.

 

Hot Air Balloon Safari

Visitors to Singita Faru Faru Lodge can enjoy a hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti plains to get a different perspective of the area. The Hot Air balloon offers an opportunity to traverse through the park and catch a glimpse at almost all the wildlife species that call Grumeti home. The flight takes you high above the grasslands and acacia forests, and sometimes even ascend to 1,000 feet and on return, you are led to a Continental bush breakfast. Several pictures can be taken during this 1-hour flight to help you tell your African story. This Balloon Safari is a romantic and evocative way of experiencing the Serengeti wilderness.
