Arrival & Transfer Victoria Falls: You will be met at the airport and transferred to the hotel to start your adventure. The adventure begins tonight. Feel free to explore before your welcome meeting, after introductions, please note that normal check-in times apply at our start hotels, but you can usually store your luggage for the day if you arrive early.

Journey through over 100 years of history in this engaging, theatrical, and educational tour. Led by an enthusiastic team of guides, wander through the history of this remarkable structure, from its design and initial prefabrication in England to its construction in Africa. The bridge, an engineering masterpiece, has a history that is entertaining and tragic in equal measure.

Explore Victoria Falls at your leisure this morning, or join a guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will then be transferred to the Painted Dog Conservation headquarters. These rare painted dogs are protected and rehabilitated by this non-profit group. You’ll also hear from a conservationist about dangers to these creatures. Travel to Hwange National Park, one of Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife reserves and an important elephant sanctuary, to go on a safari after that.

Embark on a full-day safari across Hwange National Park’s vast grassland plains. It is possible to observe a variety of animals in the park, including the resident elephant herd and buffalo herd, as well as the uncommon African wild dog species. Relax on the lodge’s veranda this evening, keeping an eye out for the wildlife that frequents the lodge’s drinking hole.

Depart Hwange and head north, crossing the border into Botswana and arriving in Kasane—the gateway to the stunning Chobe National Park. Settle into your lodge and embark on a boat safari on the Chobe River, the lifeline of the park. Look out for submerged hippos, basking crocodiles, bathing elephants, and an abundance of birdlife from the boat’s deck, and witness a spectacular fiery sunset over the river.

Your exploration of Chobe National Park will resume this morning. The park is home to one of Africa’s largest elephant populations. On a safari along the banks of the Chobe River, keep an eye out for elephants, buffalo, lions, zebra, and rare semi-aquatic antelope, as well as an incredible variety of birds. In the afternoon, opt to take a photography river safari on a specialized photography boat.

Get on an airplane and head off for Botswana’s famous Okavango Panhandle, a slender branch of the Okavango River that flows into the Okavango Delta. A boat trip through the meandering rivers awaits you when you arrive at our isolated resort. The Okavango Wilderness Project, a multi-year partnership between foreign and local specialists, will be discussed this evening. National Geographic’s “Into the Okavango” is a must-see for anybody interested in delta conservation.

Explore the breathtaking Okavango Panhandle with expert local guides. Navigate the wildlife-rich channels of the Okavango River aboard a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe, and spot all manner of bird life on bush walks. Settle into your tent in our remote bush camp this evening. Enjoy a three-course meal around a roaring campfire while listening to the night calls of the delta.

Continue exploring the Okavango Delta’s untamed habitat on foot and by mokoro, spotting herons, storks, egrets, and other wading birds. Return to the lodge later this afternoon and opt to relax by an open fire, or take a swim.

Arrive in Maun for an evening of storytelling and traditional cuisine with local author Bonty Botumile, a well-known storyteller in the area. Bonty, who was born in Maun, is devoted to preserving Botswana’s literary legacy and creating chances for youth to work in the arts. The evening will be rounded off with a wonderful supper and colorful storytelling around a toasty fire.
